About xfriend

xfriend is a local, browser-based desktop search engine that runs on Windows and Linux. xfriend indexes your data records, including meta-information and e-mail accounts, as plain text to provide detailed search hits...

xfriend also searches the Internet, product catalogs, RSS feeds, and other search services. Users can set up their own individual meta-search engine for the Internet based on 13 different search engines. In addition, you can use xfriend to share encrypted files (SSL) with friends or search in your shared indexes. In this way, simple client/server search environments can be created. xfriend currently supports more than 400 file types, such as jpeg, mp3, doc, xls, pdf, txt and many others.
